Sandra Jean Secrest, 85, was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1941, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Ward and Vesta Hamilton, and passed away on August 15, 2026. Sandra will be remembered as a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose steady love for family and community was matched by a warm, humorous spirit that could brighten any room.
At just 19 years old, Sandra fell in love with Bob Secrest, beginning a partnership defined by deep devotion and an easy, shared humor. Married on April 1, 1960—April Fool’s Day—Sandra and Bob delighted in teasing one another and bringing laughter to those around them. Their love and companionship endured for more than 66 years, a bond marked by loyalty, friendship, and the kind of everyday joy that becomes a family’s foundation.
During the early years of their marriage, Sandra and Bob lived in San Antonio, Texas. In 1963, Bob received a new job opportunity in Conroe, Texas, and the couple moved there and purchased a small grocery store. Sandra worked very hard alongside Bob to help build their new business, and together they came to love life in a small community where they formed many dear friendships along the way.
Sandra’s devotion reached well beyond her own home. She had a special place in her heart for children and spent more than 20 years helping plan, organize, and volunteer with special needs children through the Montgomery County Fair Association. She also volunteered during Senior Day at the Montgomery County Fair, offering her time with quiet kindness and a spirit of service that reflected how deeply she cared for others.
Sandra took great pride in her family and cherished every opportunity to spend time with the people she loved. Sandra and Bob were blessed with three children: their daughters Susan Secrest and Shannon Secrest-Lollar, and their son Robert Allen Secrest. In a unique family adventure, Sandra helped raise ostriches alongside her daughter Susan, her son-in-law Scott, and Bob—an experience that reflected her willingness to work hard, try something new, and share life fully with those she loved. Sandra leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, friendship, and service that will be carried forward for generations.
Sandra was preceded in death by Vesta Hamilton, Ward Hamilton, and Geary Hamilton.
