Shirley Faye Woodson Harrell was born in Conroe, Texas on March 14, 1932, and died on March 30, 2024, in Conroe, Texas after living a long and joyful life. Shirley was the 8th child born to Etta Mae and Benjamin F Woodson.
Shirley spent her young years growing up in South Montgomery County Texas and graduated from Conroe High School. On June 14, 1957, she married the love of her life, James (Doug) Harrell and after starting their family in the early years of their marriage they opened their first business, D & D Construction. Shirley adored her boys more than anything. She also loved fishing, gardening, studying God’s Word and sharing her faith. In the early 1980’s, Shirley opened Harrell Hamburgers on Hanna Road, where she was able to share her love of cooking and serving others. It was then that her personal relationship with Jesus Christ began to grow also. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Tamina Church where she taught Sunday School and told everyone she knew about how much Jesus loved them.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, JD (Doug) Harrell, brothers, Bud Woodson, Bishop Woodson, Jim Woodson, and Harold Woodson. Sisters Verna Mae Roth, Lois Soucek, Elsie Reichert, Lillian Ward, and Viola Blair.
She is survived by her loving brother Floyd Woodson and wife Gail, Son James (Bo) Harrell Jr. and wife Connie, Mark Harrell and wife Melonie; Four grandchildren, Jason Harrell and wife Susan, Brandon Harrell and wife Elizabeth, Daniel Harrell and wife Sara, Tara Harrell Acker and husband Matthew; Eight Great Grandchildren whom she loved dearly along with a host of devoted nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to extend special recognition and appreciation to Marilyn Myers who was a faithful friend and caregiver to their mother and Nana.
