Marie was born on June 17, 1921, in Ranger, Texas, to Clarence Lee Webb and Dora Elizabeth Swearinger. After losing her mother at a young age, she was raised by her father during the hardships of the Great Depression, an experience that helped shape the strength, resilience, and determination that characterized her throughout her life.
Driven by a desire to serve, Marie earned her Registered Nursing degree from Scott & White School of Nursing in 1943. She proudly served her country as a member of the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. It was during her military service that she met the love of her life, William Louis Booth. The two married and shared 58 wonderful years. Together they welcomed their daughter, Eugenie Lea Booth.
Following her military service, Marie continued her nursing career, dedicating herself to a profession she deeply valued. She was known for her strong work ethic, independence, and commitment to serving others through her profession. Upon her retirement in 1985, she and Bill settled in Point Blank, Texas, where they embraced lake life and became active members of their community. Marie enjoyed participating in the Bass Club, Garden Club, Vacation Bible School, and many other activities that kept her engaged with friends and neighbors.
After the passing of her beloved husband, Marie moved to Tomball, Texas, to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. There, she continued to live an active and engaged life, forming lasting friendships through organizations such as the Red Hat Society and remaining involved in her community well into her later years.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Lee Webb and Dora Elizabeth Swearinger, and by her devoted husband of 58 years, William Louis Booth.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her daughter, Eugenie Lea Hood; her grandchildren and their spouses, Laura and Troy Gann, and Christopher and Ashley Homrighaus; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Marie will be remembered for her strength, independence, determination, and dedication to her family. Her long life spanned more than a century of history, and her legacy lives on through the generations of family she leaves behind.
A private graveside service for immediate family will be held on July 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Center Hill Cemetery in Oakhurst, Texas.
