Floyd C ‘Skeeter” Lothringer, also known as AM 700 KSEVs Car Doctor and founder of Skeeter’s Auto Service, Ltd in Cypress, Texas, passed away of congestive heart failure Thursday, September 27th, 2018. He was 71. Skeeter was born in Eagle Pass, Texas on October 8, 1946, to William Francis Lothringer and Irma Ruth Landen Lothringer. He grew up in San Antonio, Texas as a child and moved to Spring Branch, Texas as a young teen where he attended Spring Woods High School and met his high school sweetheart, Eraina Lucas. When Skeeter was 19 years old he was drafted to the Vietnam War originally to the Army but requested to be transferred to the US Marine Corps. He attended boot camp in California at Camp Pendleton and shipped to Okinawa on his birthday in 1966. Skeeter was a mortarman in the 1st Batalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division where he rose to Lance Corporal. Skeeter was wounded by a hand grenade explosion in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart Medal along with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Expert Rifle Badge (M-14) Rifle. He served proudly as a US Marine from 1966 -1968, when he was honorably discharged. Upon his return from the Vietnam War he and Eraina were married on June 8, 1968. They welcomed a daughter, Rona Lynnette in January of 1970, and a son, Ty Weston in March of 1972. Skeeter was preceded in death by his father, William Francis Lothringer and mother, Irma Ruth Landen Lothringer, brother Billy Lothringer and mother in law, Hazel Irene Lucas Bodak. He is survived by his wife Eraina, daughter Rona Wallace and her husband Donald, son Ty Lothringer, sister Sandra Lothringer Wade, grandaughters Ashleigh Araina Toney and her husband Derek, Jessica Aryn Jenkins and Lauren Taylor Lothringer, grandsons, James A Jenkins III, Michael Lee Mingus and great-grandson, Brett William Toney. Nephews, Randy Schubach, Jason Schubach, Jamie Parks, Michael Parks and Jason Parks. Sister in law Rhonda Parks and her husband, Bradley Parks. Cousins, Sally and Matt Montgomery, Gilbert Ornelas Sr, Gilbert Ornelas Jr and his wife, Kelly, Gina Marie Ornelas, Jimmy Montgomery, Ernest “Sonny” Lucas, Patti Lucas Daugherty, Debbye Lucas Miller, Betty Lemon, Alissa Miller Strawn, Raina Carter and her husband John and daughter Olivia and hundreds of close friends, employees, anglers and radio personalities that he considered family. Skeeter was the founder of Skeeter’s Auto Service Ltd in Cypress, Texas established in 1993, where he worked with his wife, daughter, son and grand daughter, Jessica and the Texas Car Doctor Radio Show on AM 700 KSEV where he could be heard on Saturdays from Noon to 2pm. There was nothing Skeeter loved more than helping and serving others. He was a pillar of the community, a faithful supporter of the Cy-Fair FFA program, a member of the Automotive Service Association and various other automotive organizations. Skeeter was an avid angler and loved to hunt and be in the outdoors. He participated in and supported hundreds of fishing tournaments, both fresh and salt water, and sponsored fishing tournaments every time he was given the opportunity. Skeeter will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a loving husband, father and grandfather, distinguished automotive professional and radio personality, angler, champion of the underdog, cheerful and gracious giver, a proud American Patriot and United States Marine Corps Veteran. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe with visitation held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery and a reception will follow burial.
