Steven C. Elmore, Husband, Father, and skilled craftsman, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at the age of 70. Steve was born on September 25, 1949 at the “Old” St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. Steve was preceded in death by his parents Marilyn Crider Elmore and Sam Traylor Elmore, and brother Sam C. Elmore. He is survived by JoAnn, his wife of 46 years, and their three children Shannon (Dusti), Sandra (Tyson), and Stan (Tesla). He had eleven grandchildren; Gracie, James, Taylor, Canon, Remington, Gavin, Hunter, Sam, Kenzey, Carter, Grace, and two sisters, Sherry Moss and Carol Wortman.
Steven was a United States Army Veteran and took great pride in being named Trainee of the Cycle during Basic Training before being deployed overseas. Steve served with the 25th Infantry Division, where he earned a Bronze Star during his time in Vietnam. After returning to the United States, he co-founded Building Brothers Construction in 1976 with his brother Sam. Steve cultivated a loyal set of customers and friends in the Greater Houston community through fair dealing, expertise, and hard work. He set himself a higher than ordinary standard of quality and care for all projects he took on, and his clients knew it.
For the past 38 years Steve made a home with his family in Spring, Texas. As a dedicated father he instilled a sure sense of right and wrong in his children through real world experiences. His children learned hard work through home remodeling, classic car restoration, and a whole lot of sports. As a coach, Steve taught an entire generation of local children the importance of playing hard, playing fair, and always giving 100%.
Steve was patriotic toward his country, certain in his views, and devoted to his family. He will be missed.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2020, during the hours of 5PM to 7PM at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, TX.
Services for Steve Elmore will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020, at 2PM, at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, TX. Graveside service will be at Old Waverly Cemetery immediately following the service.
