On July 30, 2015 Thomas E. Whited, 88 went to join his beloved wife Georgia in heaven. Born April 20, 1927 in West Virginia but raised in Coeburn, Virginia by his parents Nannie and Kellar Whited, Coeburn was also where he met and married the love of his life, former Georgia McConnell. When telling about how they met and fell in love, Georgia would wink and smile as she used to say he was nice, good looking, and had a little yellow sports car. After retirement from the Norfolk and Western Railroad, Thomas enjoyed meeting his friends regularly at Krispy Kreme to drink coffee and discuss every topic under the sun. One of his favorite activities was camping with his family in preferred spots like Virginia Beach State Park and Grey's Point campground in Topping Virginia where he could also enjoy boating and fishing.
Thomas and Georgia are survived by their two children, son Thomas Whited, his son Thomas E. Whited II, daughter Katherine W. Butler, her husband John Butler and their two sons, David Thomas Butler, his new bride Jenna Jessie Butler, and James Ryan Butler. Thomas was a loving grandfather to his grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart and who especially enjoyed joking with them. Thomas, known to some as Tom, some as Dad and others as Granddaddy, you will be missed by all of us who love you so very much and we all feel so very lucky to have had you here for those 88 years.
