Virginia was a woman of steady strength and enduring devotion—cherished by those who knew her and beloved by the family she held close. Compassionate and kind-hearted, she gave of herself in ways both practical and profound, meeting life with resilience, honesty, and a hard working spirit. She was also wonderfully humorous, and her direct way of speaking was part of what made her so unmistakably clear, genuine, and loyal to the people she loved.
Virginia worked as a sterile processing tech and retired at the age of 62, a career that reflected her diligence and reliability. Her work ethic and straightforward integrity were evident in all she did, and she carried those same qualities into her home and relationships.
Virginia was married to Jimmy Roderick, and together they had four children. She later married her love, Stephen Valdes. Throughout her life, her care for her family remained constant, and her affection for her grandchildren was especially deep and tender.
Virginia found joy in the comforts and creativity of home life. She loved to sew and crochet, and she took pride in her flowers and plants. She loved her animals and her kids, loved to read, and delighted in collecting ballerinas, barbies, and carnival glass-trinkets that reflected her warmth, her eye for beauty, and the simple pleasures she embraced.
Virginia was preceded in death by her mother, Eloise Spates; her first husband, Jimmy Roderick; her brothers, Tracy Wade and David Bower; her grandchildren, James and Scott Roderick and Dallas Cain; and her father-in-law, Michael Valdes.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Stephen Valdes; her sister, Kathy Davis; her brother, Paul Wade; her children, Jimmy Roderick and his wife Laura, Murrell Roderick and his wife Karen, Anna Roderick and Earlene White; along with 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Virginia will be remembered with deep respect and lasting love—for her steadfast heart, her loyal presence, her humor, and the compassionate care she gave so freely to those fortunate enough to be part of her life.
