Walter Lee Hughes

Walter Lee Hughes, of Huntsville, Texas, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026. He was born in Bald Knob, Arkansas, to James Edward and Clara Opal Hughes. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Barbara Jean Hughes; son Duane Allen Walden; brothers Jimmy Hughes and David Hughes.

Walter is survived by his loving wife Laura Smith Hughes; sons Walter Lee Hughes Jr. and wife Barbara and Walter Eugene Hughes; daughters Sabrina Hughes Williams and partner Michael Robinson, Rena’ Long, and Shari Moore and husband Todd. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Brandon Walden, Jeremy Long and wife Kelly, Justin McGonigle, Jackie McGonigle, Kasey Anderson and husband Cody, Joseph Moore and wife Sheena, Mara Comeaux, Devauri Johnson and Tatum Sirls; a host of great-grandchildren and numerous family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 5:00pm till 8:00pm, at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas rd. Conroe, Texas, 77303. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00am at the Temple of Deliverance, 416 US 190 Huntsville, Texas, 77340. Interment will follow at Center Hill Cemetery.
