Wanda was the beloved daughter of the late Ben and Dorothy “Dot” Schroeder of Conroe, Texas. Born in Navasota, Texas, she grew up on Burma Road in Houston, in a neighborhood where children played freely in the streets, neighbors became lifelong friends, and families shared countless adventures, vacations, and cherished memories together.
Wanda had a strong will, a caring heart, and a personality that was entirely her own. She enjoyed tending to plants in her greenhouse, drawing, crafting, making dream catchers, and, of course, indulging in her beloved M&M’s. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures and expressed her love for those closest to her in her own special way.
She is survived by her sister, Linda Ferguson, who lovingly served as Wanda’s legal guardian for many years; brother, Robert Schroeder; niece, Gayle Hall; great-niece, Alexis Alarcon, who continued that loving care as Wanda’s guardian during her final days; and Alexis’s husband, Sebastian Alarcon.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported and cared for Wanda throughout her many years at Willis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Your kindness, patience, and compassion brought comfort and dignity to Wanda, and your dedication will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.
Wanda will be remembered for her strong spirit, creative heart, and the special place she held in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Her life was uniquely her own, and the memories she leaves behind will be cherished by those who loved her most.
A Committal Service will be held at Garden Park Cemetery, 801 Teas Rd, Conroe, TX 77303, on November 2, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
