

William Arnold (W.A. “Dick”) Foster, age 96, born June 18, 1919 in Lee County, Texas, passed away on January 13, 2016 in Conroe, Texas. Born to George and Elizabeth Foster, he was the youngest of six children. He grew up in the Houston Heights and graduated from John Reagan high school in 1938.
Soon after school, he went to work in the sheet metal industry, the work he did for over 60 years. When the war began, he joined the Marines and for the next few years he was in a lot of action. He was a true Marine till the end. When he came home from the war, he married Virginia Stallard. They raised four sons. He coached little league baseball for over twenty years and taught his love of the game to all of his boys. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Conroe. He loved to hunt and fish and taught his sons to do the same. He was truly a devoted father and husband and will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia, son; Richard Foster and two grandsons; O’Rion and Willie Foster, W.A. Foster is survived by sons; W.A. Foster Jr. and wife JoAnn of Livingston, Ronald Lee Foster of Conroe, Barry Foster and wife Sylvia of Rockport, daughter in law; Lisa Foster of Port O Conner, grandchildren; Jamie Foster of Corpus Christi, Michelle Lindsay and husband Joshua of Conroe, Joshua Bailey and wife Susan of Baytown, and 4 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral service for W.A. Foster will be held at the Cashner Colonial Chapel on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 10:00am with interment following at Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery.
