Alicia Amoreé Jackson

Alicia Amoreé Jackson, born in Poughkeepsie, New York and a resident of Tamarac, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2022 at Broward Health Coral Springs in Coral Springs, Florida. She was 52. After growing up in the harsh winters of New York State, an opportunity to housesit for a friend in West Palm Beach brought her to Florida in 2002, and she quickly made South Florida her home. Her love of Florida and her deep connection to family, inspired her mother and aunt Linda to join her in South Florida upon their retirement and together provided a community for Alicia’s daughter Gabrielle who was born in 2005 to Alicia and Levi Williams. Alicia was a devoted mother to Gabrielle, who is a sophomore at a prestigious college preparatory school, and has been a staunch supporter of Gabrielle’s interests in the arts and social justice. Alicia’s positive outlook on life, her compassion for others and commitment to education have been mainstays throughout her life. Alicia graduated from Oakwood School in Poughkeepsie, New York; earned a bachelor’s degree from American University and an MBA from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. She was the first person in her family to hold a graduate degree and earned an MBA in 1994, a degree that was rarely held by women or people of color at that time. After graduating from Syracuse, Alicia had a 25-year career as a marketing manager for companies such as Unisys and Office Depot. In addition to her mother Lois, daughter Gabrielle, aunt and godmother Linda Jackson, Alicia is survived by her father Shabazz Jackson of Clintondale, NY; brother Kitama (Jeannine) of New York, NY; sister Moraya (Chris) of Beacon, NY; niece Millie, nephew Raiden; Gabrielle’s father Levi Williams and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents Wiley and Helen Jackson and Rose and Aaron Jackson. A visitation for Alicia will be held Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071. A funeral service will occur Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071. A committal service will occur Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 2:45 PM to 3:45 PM at 6433 - Bailey Memorial Park, 7801 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068.
