Armando Botero was born on January 22, 1940, in Tobia, Colombia. As a young adult, he moved to Bogotá, where he began working hard and earned a position at a bank. It was there that he married Rosario, the love of his life, and together they welcomed their two sons, Diego and Jaime.
Rosario dreamed of raising their family in the United States, and with her encouragement, Armando immigrated almost 55 years ago in search of a better life for his family. After saving enough money, he brought his family to Boston in the early 1970s, where he worked tirelessly—often holding two full-time jobs. During this time, their family grew with the birth of Angela and later Rodrigo.
In 1990, Armando and Rosario relocated to Florida, where they opened and ran their own business for many years. They built it with pride, dedication, and hard work before eventually retiring.
To family and friends, Armando was lovingly known as “Negro,” a nickname that reflected his warmth and the deep connections he shared throughout his life. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and shared a special bond with his beloved grandchildren Isabella, Joseph, Nicolas, Addison, and Christian. He also had a special place in his heart for his grand pups, his daughter Angela’s cherished puppies, Chyna and Whiskey, who brought him great joy in his later years.
Armando was a diehard Boston Red Sox fan and faithfully followed his favorite Colombian soccer team, Santa Fe.
Armando Botero passed away on January 23, 2026. He is survived by his children Diego, Jaime (daughter-in-law Maria), Angela (son-in-law Brian), and Rodrigo; his grandchildren; and all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
A visitation will be held at Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, located at 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071, on January 29, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
