
Brian Joseph Pekrol Sr., 56, of Margate, FL. formerly of Belleville, NJ, died unexpectedly on May 30, 2012. He was born September 3, 1955 in Newark, NJ to William and June (Hendrickson) Pekrol. Mr. Pekrol attended Belleville High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1972 serving proudly aboard the USS Richard L. Page (FFG 5). After serving 3 years, he enlisted in the NJ Army National Guard in 1976. Moving to FL in 1986, he enlisted with the FL National Guard in 1988. Brian served during the Vietnam War, Yom Kippur War of 1973 and Operation Desert Storm. He was also activated during Hurricane Andrew providing needed assistance and security for the South Florida communities. Brian was a member of the American Legion Post 157.
Brian married his childhood sweetheart, Anne F. Spera, in 1977. They celebrated 35 years of marriage in March.
Survived by his wife, Anne, his daughter Carolyn (Pekrol) Primiterra and her husband James; son Brian J. Pekrol, Jr. and his wife Sonia (Gaubert); son Marc W. Pekrol and Ashley Retay, son Eric A. Pekrol and wife Maria (Varsalona); Grandchildren: Damien Pekrol, James and Adriana Primiterra; father William Pekrol, Sr.; mother June (predeceased); Siblings: William Jr., Donna (partner Linda), Darlene (predeceased), Sharon (partner Antoinette), David (partner Tony), and Thomas (wife Tina); In-laws: Peter Spera, Sr. (wife Joan), Anne Steele, Leonard & Denise Pietrzak, Kenneth & Vera Spera, Peter & Debbie Spera; step-sister Jeanne Herche and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Brian loved his family, God, his country and his animals. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Broward County Humane Society.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 4, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, Margate. Interment will be at the South Florida Veteran’s Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL. Date to be announced.
