Carmen Lydia was born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico to Ezequiel Del Rio and Margarita Quiles. She graduated from La Central High School in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart, Hugo Santiago in 1955. They welcomed 3 children in their home, Hugo, Eric, and Alan. She loved doting on her children with her cooking and baking. She was a wonderful listener and encouraged her children with her wonderful sense of humor and wit.
In her 30’s Carmen Lydia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She dedicated the rest of her life to sharing the gospel with everyone she encountered. She never hesitated to remind those around her that “Jesus loves you.” She was a part of her church choir for many years and would go to hospitals to pray over those in need. She later graduated from Las Americas Christian University with a degree in Theology.
She loved people and she loved supporting her friends and family. A camera was always on hand during family events and birthday parties to document little and big events with the same enthusiasm. She made sure to make those around her feel special creating cards with stickers, bible verses, and prayers. She could be on the phone for hours making her calls to her loved ones to catch up and pray over them.
A visitation is schedule for July 19, 2022, at 10 am with a funeral service to follow at Kraeer Funeral Home, 1655 N University Dr, Coral Springs, FL 33071.
