Carmen Marie Schentrup 2/21/01-2/14/18

Carmen was a beautiful, caring, talented, smart, and witty 16 year old. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and making others laugh. Carmen pushed herself to do her best in school, piano, and learning new things, such as German. She was involved in her church youth group and different school clubs. Her favorite past times were watching TV shows, guessing the endings to movies, and devouring books. Carmen also liked to travel, visit art museums, and help others. She was excited about graduating from Stoneman Douglas this June and attending either the University of Florida or the University of Washington. Her dreams were to become a medical scientist, find the cure for ALS, and make the world a better place. Her parents, brother, sister, and all those who love her, miss her greatly, and wish she was still here.

My daughter, Portia meet Carmen years back when she was in daycare together in Ms. Winfree’s class . I didn’t realize who she was until I saw a younger picture of her. I am deeply sorry for your loss . Although my daughter knew her briefly , she enjoyed having her as a friend . Rest In Peace Carmen!

"SOME PEOPLE
Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance.
They awaken us to understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom.
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in our lives for a while, leave footprints on our hearts,
and we are never ever the same."

Sending love and caring thoughts during this time of loss. Your daughter was a beautiful and gifted young soul whose time and place on earth will never be forgotten. Sincerely, PM
