Denise Ann Franco

have a memory or condolence to add?

August 18, 2019

my deepest condolences. I knew them both having lived around the corner. I also used to deliver the transcript to both houses , with the Caruso's house in between. Ironically she died this year the year the St.Louis blues won the Stanley Cup. I had heard years ago where Nick was president of their fan club. Again so sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss. I grew up with brother Michael and remember Denise as a very beautiful girl. I remember when she got married to Nick Franco, another neighbor of mine. Both will be remembered as great people.

On Valentines Day 1962 as I was going through cards my younger brother brought home I saw that he received multiple cards from the same girl. "Who is Denise D'Alessandro?" Being only 9yrs old at the time his response was, "I don't know. Some girl in my class." " She likes you!" I teased. His response was, "Gross!" and went to the kitchen for a snack. And thus began the love story of Nick Franco & Denise D'Alessandro.
My family had just moved into the neighborhood and didn't know any of the neighbors yet, It turned out that this girl lived right around corner and passed by our house on her way to & from school everyday-multiple times! Eventually our parents became friends and she stopped passing by so often because now she could just come and "visit" any time. She became the younger sister I didn't have and the "thorn" in my brother's side. Remember, he was only 9.
Fast forward about 8 yrs. and in the words of Neil Sedaka, my brother found himself living "Right next door to an Angel"' Our families had gotten so close that it was hard for Nick to think of Denise as anything but a sister but she had different ideas. She knew what she wanted and she usually got it. They began dating. They built a life together, a beautiful home and two wonderful boys. Life was good!
Unfortunately their dream came to an end in 1985 when Nick suddenly died and left Denise alone and broken hearted with a giant void in her life.
She focused on raising her boys to be good men. She succeeded in this and drew great joy in bearing witness to their accomplishments but in the quiet moments she still felt the void.
When she decided to pursue the lung transplant we talked about what a big risk she would be taking. She said that she saw it as a "win/win" situation. She would either come out of this with a new life or if she didn't make it she would be with Nick again.
Rest in Peace, Denise! You will be missed.

Denise and I shared so many good times together including a great trip to Boston which was a blast. I am somewhat speechless....I followed her progress through this strenuous ordeal from her son's Facebook postings...I will miss her so much.

My friend Denise. I will miss your voice, your advice, your insight. We met as business women in NC and you left a positive mark in my life. I admired your strength and bravery as an entrepreneur and then your huge heart to help others in your life. You shared much of your family stories and I realized how much you cared & loved all of them. You will be greatly missed, until we see each other, cheers to my lady friend....George & I love you Denise.

Our thoughts and prayer are with Denise’s Family. My sister Terry Smith and I are very saddened about Denise’s passing. She lived in the Villa that Terry and my Father Michael Smith lived in until he passed. Denise’s sister, Diane, has been my best friend since high school.
I spent so many weekends with the family- it was my second home.
I remember Denise and Nick dating and used to think they were perfect together. She was so happy and beautiful.
This is the memory of her I want to hold closest. The best of times with the love of her life.
She is with him now and her Dad and brother Sal.
Rest in sweet peace Denice xoxo
