Yesterday was Dennis’ birthday and I usually call him every year to catch up.  Based on previous conversations I had with him, something told me this year to do a quick Google search first and unfortunately, I was saddened to find this memorial site.  

I can say, without any shred of doubt, that I owe my professional career as an accountant to Dennis.  He taught me almost everything I know about how to be a good accountant.  Dennis was always so patient and so kind and always so willing to explain anything to anyone.  Working under him as his Controller he also taught me a lot about what it means to be a good leader in a company and always do the right thing.  I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for working closely with him for those years.  

I will also always remember what I refer to as “Dennis-isms” which where his funny little anecdotes.  He always had a funny little one-liner or story to go along with almost any situation and even though anyone who spent a fair amount of time with him would admit that they probably heard the same ones multiple times, I still enjoyed them every time and I often repeat many of them today.

He was truly one of a kind and he will be missed by many.  My condolences to Maria and all of his family.

I had the great honor of working with Dennis at Viragen and Vycellix. He was very much a mentor to me, and more importantly, my friend. And I am a much better person for having known him. 

He was always ultra-calm & cool under pressure, always respectful, always compassionate, always generous and always with the most excellent sense of humor.   I never saw Dennis drink a sip of water... and when I'd ask him about it, he’d always say water doesn’t taste like anything!  Or he’d say, “I drink plenty of water; I just filter it through coffee.”  He always made me smile.

I’ll never forget the endless pots of hot tea we drank in London together; and the many trips to NY, Scotland and Sweden, raising money for Viragen. So many great stories and memories of him indeed!  The world is less special without him in it.

There is no man in this world who can compare to my Dad.  I would call that bias, then again, it's  not.  He was a role model to just about every man I've known to cross his path, from cousins to coworkers.  He taught me to be a real man, and has never failed me one time. Not once! I love you Dad with all of my heart,  and all I can really say at this point is....Thank You.

Dennis and I worked together fo over 15 years. He was one of the  nicest  human beings I have ever met. He was smart, funny, honest and very hard working. We were co workers but more importantly friends.

Dennis treated all our employees with respect and made everyone feel that they were an important part of our success. He was loved and admired by all who came in contact with him.

I will never forget my time with Dennis and grateful for having had the privilege of being his friend.

Rest In Peace my Friend. You will forever be remembered by all who knew you!

Up until about 10+ years ago, it was always "Mr. Healey" and then after a long 25+ years of being a semi 2nd daughter ~ I finally got this, "Ya Know, Wendy ~ you can call me Dennis"! I was so pleased and shocked that I replied with, "Perfect 'Dennis', can I please have the keys to your Jag"? Of course, I gotta... "now Wendy... let's not go that far" and the answer was a clear NO. But hey, ya can't blame me for trying. I knew that he definitely wasn't prepared for this reply, but we sure did laugh about it then and often shared the story with friends and family who definitely shared in this, and soo many good times... "Dennis" to me was a Father figure who was always willing to share his time, offer assistance, and guidance when asked. Dennis raised a beautiful family; which I am the most fortunate to hold near and dear to my heart ~ my best friend Erica, brothers Dennis and Dave, words cannot express how truly sorry I am for your loss. He embraced a loving wife, Maria. Dennis, enjoyed his grandchildren, friends, family, colleagues, and guns (sorry, he loved his guns too) and will be greatly missed always, but will indeed be remembered forever!

On October 27, 2019, the world lost one truly unparalleled individual who I am fortunate enough to call my Dad.  While there will never be a day that goes by that I will not miss you, I know my strength will come from the endless memories we shared, the countless, irreplaceable life lessons you have taught me and the importance of leading Sarah by example as you did for Dennis, David and I.  The person I am today is because of the unconditional love you have shown me every day of my life.  
From the day I was born, you gave me confidence, invariably believed in me, motivated me to new heights, demonstrated the value of kindness, reminded me to choose my battles carefully, instilled in me to always do what is right and provided me the necessary wisdom to know the difference.  For your entire short life, you lived unselfishly, always put family first, worked exceptionally hard and persistently remained humble. You will always be my greatest mentor and I thank god every day for having such an exceptional father and for the wonderful life you provided all of us.  
I am proud of many things yet, there is nothing I will ever be prouder of Dad than being your daughter and stating that my father is Dennis Wade Healey.  



I had the greatest respect for Dennis as a person and a professional. I served on three boards with Dennis and was always so impressed with his knowledge abilities and accomplishments. But I was even more impressed with him as just a great person and a great friend. 

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

I have enjoyed the times that I was able to spend with Dennis. He was always so kind and gracious.

Deleta and I send our deepest condolences. Dennis was such a great guy, and I really enjoyed our ride in the Jag the time he picked me up in Fort Myers to take me to Erica and Family. We had a lot of laughs for sure and Dennis will be greatly missed. 

In  the time that i knew Dennis we bonded over both business and our shared military experience.  He was a kind man who i enjoyed not only working with, but also sharing a laugh with as well.  He will be missed - sending my deep condolences to his family at this difficult time.

Having Dennis as a friend was not only a friendship but also a blessing which included the very moral code and fibers of life. Dennis was always there ready to give his all regardless of the timing or the challenge. Dennis never failed to give even to his last moments, always ready to fight the battle regardless if it were for others or himself. Yes,  a true warrior who will be dearly missed by all. Dennis, we know you have already reached your desired destination  and if you can spare a moment,  we ask you to please keep an eye out for us poor humans down here. 

Dennis was a fellow worker and a good friend who I enjoyed being with over these many years. He always had a great sense of humor especially when telling stories of his children. When I moved our dialysis operations to Easton, MD he would come up to do his accounting stuff but he really wanted to come hunting here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He will always remain in my thought and prayers and already I miss not hearing his voice so very much. 🙏💕🙏💕🙏💕

Thinking of all my cousins who have lost a beloved man who was honoured and loved throughout his life. Dennis was married to my first cousin Karen who became so special to me and family members here in Canada. It was their kindness and generosity that many of us were able to visit Florida often. Their hospitality in opening up their home enabled us to make life long fond memories. Dennis made a trip to Canada a few years ago and he discovered the beauty of NS and the love we had for him. Thanks, Dennis  Healey for all the love and support you gave to others throughout your lifetime. Never to be forgotten. 

I wish to express my condolences to the family and share my only memories of Dennis.  I had the opportunity to stay with Karen and Dennis during my 1st visit to Flordia in 1996) while they were renovating their home). I enjoyed Dennis's  conversations,  over coffee, early in the morning before he went to work.

My brother in law Dennis for 26 years, you will be missed. The voice of reason, the confidant, the anchor of the family always. Dennis and my late husband (Bill Kurau) were 2 “Jersey boys” who were the best of friends for over 40 years.  They loved to go out, drink a few beers and talk about politics and life in general.  Dennis was a captivating and wonderful story teller.  Dennis & Bill both were also extreme gentlemen.  We’ve had wonderful times together and wonderful dinners with Maria & Dennis.
It’s so hard to write something at these times.  
Mitch Albom wrote in “Tuesday’s with Maurie”, that “Death ends a life, it doesn’t end a relationship”.  Dennis is always with us.  He is part of us.  Also, Maria - my father once told me, that even after I die, I will still love you....  and somehow that still gives me comfort.  I know Dennis still and always loves you, his children, family and everyone he was close to....


A number of us served with fellow marine Healey on Hill 881S, at Khe Sanh during the siege in 1968.  He played an integral part in our defense.   I had tried to find him over the years but was not successful.   I am sorry that we found him through his obituary.  We wish him peace and restful sleep until we meet again.

I wish I could say I have vivid memories of Dennis while in Vietnam.  As with many others although serving in such difficult situations we became forever bonded yet time and memory fade the specifics.  I do know that he, I and others such as Ed Woolverton, Butch Brown served together in the same 81mm mortar platoon for the duration of our tours.  During at least one particular period we served in different locations yet as part of the same mortar platoon.  My condolences to his family and friends.  Semper Fi and rest well Marine.  

I met Dennis in 1997, just months before my daughter was born. Growing up and being at Viragen often with her daddy, Loret always called Dennis the "Chocolate man" and Viragen, the chocolate place.

Another fond memory is of Dennis and I chatting about the "bad old days" with early computers. We would laugh together over his trials and tribulations. Goofs and mix ups with the dinosaurs of his earlier days running the numbers at Viragen and his other places of work.

I will miss him, his gentle voice no matter what was going on.
A man with proud dignity he was a true Gentleman.

I served with Dennis in Vietnam. We were in separate gun sections but occasionally we would be in an area where we could catch up with each other.
He was a fine Marine and I’m proud to say I had the opportunity to know him, even if for only for a short time.

I met Dennis when i was in the Marines, and in viet nam. We ended up going on R&R together, we had a great time. He ''volunteered'' us to have dinner with a British family, i tried to beg out, but, he insisted. He was a great guy, and a good Marine.
