Donna Elizabeth Nitsch

Donna was born in Salem, MA, the youngest of three children and only daughter of Donald and Jessie Cummings. She moved to south Florida at the age of 3 and grew up in Hollywood, FL and graduated from Northeast High School in Fort Lauderdale, Class of 1971. She loved caddying for her dad, the Florida sun, her VW Beetle, and she was scouted by a local model agency and really enjoyed walking the runway.

Donna started working for the local phone company at the age of 17 and retired after 30 years as a dispatch clerk from AT&T.

She took care of her mother and brother while starting a family, raising 3 girls and met the love of her life, Bill. Donna met Bill at work, and he quickly asked her on a date, they were married and soon followed their son. She was a devoted mother supporting her children through their childhood and adulthood passions and pursuits. The same can be said about her grandchildren who were her ultimate pride and joy. She and Bill bowled on a league for several years, enjoyed evenings out in Coconut Creek and loved spending time with her feline companions over the years.

Donna is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, William Michael Nitsch, her children Korin Lane (Mathew), Bridget Rich (Daniel), Lori Ann Montes (Tom), and William Patrick Nitsch (Elvisa) and her adoring grandchildren Sophia and Stella Rich and Liam and Wyatt Nitsch. As well as her brothers and sisters in law, cousins, niece and nephews, and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Donald & Jessie Cummings, her brothers Kenneth and Brian Cummings, and her in-laws Dolores and William J. Nitsch.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital in Tamarac, FL, who provided compassionate care to Donna during her final days of her life. Friends and family are warmly invited to Donna’s Celebration of Life, which will be held on Friday, July 24th from 4pm-7pm with a memorial service from 530pm-6pm at Kraeer Funeral Home in Coral Springs.
