Dorothy was raised on a cotton farm near Blessing, Texas, the youngest of 8 children. She met the love of her life in Patrick Oliver and they married in 1952. At the time of his passing in 2009, they had been married for 57 event filled years. As a rising star at Pan American Airlines, Patrick was promoted and relocated many times during their marriage. They moved from Texas to New York and Detroit, where the first of four sons, Patrick was born. From there it was on to Denver, where sons Michael and Thomas were added to the growing family. In Norwalk, following the move from Denver, the family was complete with the birth of son Robert. Dorothy honed her organizational skills with additional moves to Vienna, Virginia, Mexico City and Stamford, Connecticut. The family finally came to rest in Miami, FL and she and Pat spent the next 31 years there. Dorothy was very active with her St Richards Parish, eventually serving as President of the Woman’s Club. She and Pat enjoyed a very active social life. Patrick’s position as VP of Latin America Division with Pan Am took the two of them all over the world, including England, Italy, Brazil, Sri Lanka, and to many parts of the Caribbean and Hawaii. But for all of her world travel, her greatest joy was spending time with her kids and grandkids and the feeling was always mutual.
