Douglas was born on March 17, 1964, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to John J. Meara and Mary Josephine “Jo” Meara. He is survived by partner Pedro Blanco, brother, John W. (Linda) Meara, nephew Scott (Chase) Meara, and niece Danielle (Joseph) Mandele. He was preceded in death by his parents.
During his 40 plus years as a hair stylist and colorist in the Ft. Lauderdale and Pompano Beach area Douglas’ warmth, talent, and loving personality drew people to him and resulted in a loyal clientele.
He cared deeply about the world around him, and was especially proud of his volunteer work with South Florida Audubon Society’s Sea Turtle Hatchling Rescue. His kindness, generosity, and unmistakable aloha spirit will be remembered by the many friends whose lives he brightened.
Douglas will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held at a beach location on a date to be determined.
