I have so many fond memories of Eleanor while I was a teenager in Brooklyn. I remember sitting on stoop on Halsey Street on a hot summer’s night,  I remember her sweet voice singing “Summertime” around her kitchen table. She was always there for me to give my advice. I lost contact when bar that she worked in on Myrtle Ave closed, then I moved but thought of her often. She was beautiful inside & out & may she Rest In Peace.

I am so sorry for the loss of your Mom.  Elly and I had been exchanging Christmas cards for many years, and when I checked my list, I realized that I had not received one from her in 2013.  In fact a few years ago in one of my cards, I enclosed a picture of my children and grandchildren.   I just thought hers to me might have gotten lost, but then again, I felt that I needed to try to find out why, so my husband checked in the Obituaries for Margate, FL, and found that she had passed away.

Not sure if you know who I am.  Your Mom and my Mom, Stella Mineo Nanni, were first cousins.  Your grandfather, Vito Carcioppolo, and my grandmother, Angelina Carcioppolo , were brother and sister.  I found a picture in my Mom's drawer of your grandfather as a young man.  My Mom who lived with us in Fanwood, New Jersey,  passed away in 1978.

I read all of the beautiful tributes to your Mom, and noticed that beneath one of them it said “contact me”, so I decided to.  Please e-mail me at marycalab417@aol.com, and put the subject:  Elly, so it doesn't go into my spam folder.   I would love to hear from you.

Dearest MOM Its been taking me forever to find the right words. What are the right words for the loss of a MOM so dear to me. Grandma I'll miss all the Christmas parties we use to have, miss all the laughs we use to share but most of all I'll miss you. Grandma it was a great joy to see your face light up every time you saw Elena. I'll always remember you saying how special she is, for she is the first Licari girl in (x) amount of years.
