Elizabeth, lovingly known as Betty, and her sister, Karen, were raised in Brookfield, Illinois by their parents, George and Lucille Kesman, and later by their stepmother, Dolores. From an early age, Betty was surrounded by strong family bonds that shaped the loving, generous person she became. She especially treasured her time with her beloved Grandpa Robert and Aunt Carol, whose influence held a special place in her heart.
Betty spent the majority of her summers at her family’s home in LaPorte, Indiana, on Pine Lake — a place filled with laughter, sunshine, and lifelong memories. She loved water skiing and spending those carefree days with family and friends.
In October 1968, Betty married the love of her life, Roy Bodo, and together they built a beautiful life centered on family, dedication, and shared dreams.
She was a devoted mother to her three children: Mike Doyle (Sue), Joleen (John), and Craig (Kelly). She was a proud grandmother to Laken, Maggie, and Liam (Mallary), and was recently overjoyed to welcome her great-grandchild, Tatum.
Betty made her home in Park Ridge, Illinois, where she raised her family and found deep fulfillment in her professional life. She truly loved her work at the Farm Bureau, where she headed the SLICE program and skillfully organized and executed conventions, meetings, and numerous projects. In recognition of her dedication and service, she was honored with a pearl necklace from the Farm City Board — a gift she treasured. Later, she continued her career in Florida, working at Lou Bachrodt Chevrolet in Pompano Beach.
Betty and Roy eventually built their dream retirement home in Minocqua, Wisconsin, where they spent summers, while enjoying winters together in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
Creativity was one of Betty’s greatest joys. She had a lifelong passion for quilting and sewing, a skill lovingly taught to her by her Aunt Myrtle and Aunt Carol. She was always creating handmade gifts for family and friends — each piece made with care and love.
Betty also loved to travel, especially cherishing time spent in St. Lucia with Roy and their dear friends. She cherished her dogs — Lassie, Duke, and Ginger — who were truly part of her family. One of her proudest memories was purchasing her own Chevrolet Impala, a car she absolutely adored.
Above all else, Betty treasured her family and the many memories they shared together.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Bodo.
