JAMURTI “ESTHER” BEHARRY, a resident of Coral Springs, Florida, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on June 17th, 2018, just a few hours before her 95th birthday. She is now celebrating and rejoicing in heaven in the arms of our loving Savior with her predeceased husband, Paul Kungh Beharry, and predeceased son, Kennard Beharry. Her death occurred at Coral Springs Medical Center in Coral Springs, Florida.
She is survived by numerous close relatives whose lives she helped to shape, including her son (Leonard P. Beharry), her daughter in law (Zabida Beharry), her son’s current spouse (Lorna Khemraj), and her seven grandchildren (Ramona C. Beharry, R. Michael Beharry, Marc A. Beharry, Andrea N. Beharry, Romel I. Beharry, Sean D. Beharry, and Paul A. Beharry), six great grandchildren (Juleine E. Beharry, Nicholas P. Beharry, Azam M. Beharry, Sidney A. Beharry, Ethan M. Beharry and Amelia E. Beharry), and two great great grand children (Andre M. Zelaya and Alyssa C. Zelaya) who all adored her. Other close relatives included those that called her “Mama”, “Nani”, “Jasso Didi”, and “Aunty”. However she was known, we said these names and recalled the splashes in time that we spent with her, which are now forever etched within our memories.
She was born in Guyana, South America and migrated to the United States during the middle years of her life, initially settling in New York City, and later in Coral Springs, Florida. She was a pillar of strength and wisdom, unselfish and kind, but most of all, the treasures in her life were the moments and times spent with her family.
The way in which she lived her life, the grace and dignity that she displayed, and the path that she walked can be a roadmap for all of us. She rarely missed the opportunity to gather and praise God, with unwavering devotion. Her belief in Jesus Christ and faith as a Christian, formed the foundations on which she stood strong. Therefore, we know with confidence, that she exchanged the physical attributes of this world for eternal life.
Today and forevermore, we will remember the legacy of a woman whose warmth and gentleness were apparent to everyone she met, whose quiet strength we remember and whose light shines bright within our hearts.
