Lynne Sitton joined her brothers and sisters in Christ in Heaven on November 4, 2011 peacefully at her home after a long battle with breast cancer. The daughter of the late Edward W. Cooper and Marjorie (nee Wicoff) Cooper, she attended Moorestown High School in Moorestown, NJ, where she was a varsity swimmer, art editor of the yearbook, had starring roles in school plays and was an exchange student to Mexico. Lynne graduated from Connecticut College in 1969 with a BA in studio art. At Conn, she designed scenery and wrote lyrics for class plays, designed the class banner and served as class president for ten years.
Lynne was a published writer, poet and illustrator, whose artwork was used in both the private and corporate sectors. Her work could be found in ads along the eastern seaboard, Christmas cards for family or at fundraisers for the U.S. Coast Guard Wives' Club, of which Lynne was a member. She was president of the Miami Wives' Club, where she and her husband of 41 years, Captain Robert Sitton served a tour in Florida.
Lynne gave generously of her time, talent, artwork and resources for the causes and people she loved. Her illustrations were given to the Christian Churches and Christian organizations of which she and Robert belonged. Lynne supported needy orphans by sponsoring children in Mexico and Kenya. She served the Lord for over thirty years as she and Bob opened their home for weekly Bible study and as a sanctuary for friends, family and those in need.
As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece and friend, Lynne will be remembered for her sacrificial gift of time and energy to help us in our times of need. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Robert, her sons, Jeffrey and his wife, Jayma of Media, PA and Andrew and his wife, Kimberly of Ft. Lauderdale; her four grandchildren, Hannah, Rachel, Piper and Henri, her step daughter, Vickie of Pittsburgh, PA, her sister, Barbara C. Neeb of Mt. Laurel, NJ, her aunt, Evelyn Wicoff of Princeton, NJ and other family members and many friends.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2011, 5:00pm at Riverside Christian Fellowship, 957 Rock Island Road at Kimberly Blvd., North Lauderdale with Rev. Brian Brookins and Rev. Cass Daly officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Lynne's memory to World Vision, 84834 Weyerhaeuser Way, South Federal Way, WA 98063. www.worldvision.org
