Freddie A. Vargas, 66, of Parkland, FL, was welcomed into Heaven on September 27, 2020. He was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on March 4, 1954 to Rafael Vargas and Elba Rosas. There, he grew his Catholic faith along with his neighbor, best friend, and future wife, Lydia Bernard.
Freddie had a passion for transportation and became a Civil Engineer. In a reflection of his caring heart, he helped make Florida safer with train safety crossings and other transportation safety measures.
Freddie's other passions were hosting parties and education. As a party animal, he would often have guests singing and dancing until breakfast. He was constantly bettering his mind by reading civil engineering books and staying up to date on the latest safety news.
At the heart of the matter, though, he was the kindest, best, most generous, loving husband, father, and grandfather possible. Taking care of his family, and others appointed as family, was his second most important mission in life. Being God's servant was his first.
Those left to mourn his passing since Freddie is now attending the Heavenly party are his beloved wife, Lydia; children, Rafael A. Vargas-Bernard, Jeanna V. Vargas (partner, Terence P. Lord), and Alyssia M. Vargas; grandson, Shane M. Calvello; brother, Edwin R. Vargas; sister, Elba M. Vargas; nieces and nephews; and his extended family at Mary Help of Christians Roman Catholic Church.
Viewing will be Monday, October 5, 2020 from 5-8pm at Kraeer Funeral Home, Coral Springs, FL. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 6 at 6:30pm at Mary Help of Christians Roman Catholic Church, Parkland, FL. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in his honor to Mary Help of Christians Religious Education Fund or St Vincent de Paul for Mary Help of Christians.
