My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Jerry's family. Jerry was my boss at Amoco in Carteret, NJ for many years until he was transferred. He was one of the best bosses I have ever had the honor of working for.  His famous quote was, "My door is always open." Which meant, whenever anyone had a problem he was always there to listen.
A mans character is based on the way he lived. His character to me was truly divine.

To Barbara, Jay and Jennifer.  So sorry to hear of your dad's passing.  He was a great person and of course he and your mom were Jamie's godparents.  We have a lot of wonderful memories  to remember him by.  We had some great times together which started almost from the day we moved in next door to each other.  

Your dad was always up to something, like when the first cordless telephone came out and he called to say that he and your mom would be over for tea and then rang the bell since he was calling from outside our front door.  He loved to play tricks and I was always willing to go along with his crazy antics.

I am sure you will have many great memories to sustain you in the days and months ahead.  It is not easy to lose a parent but your memories will help you through the rough times.

Although I have never met you Pat you have my sincere sympathy in your loss.  I am sure the years you shared together were happy ones and that you have wonderful memories of your time together.

Jonathan, Janet and Jamie send their sympathies as well.  May God be with you at this time and know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

To Barbara, Jay and Jennifer.  Beverly called us yesterday with the sad news.   We can't begin to tell you how much we loved your parents.  From the day we moved in to our house across the street from you, they treated us like family in every way.  They were two of the most decent human beings we have ever known.

Your dad was forever kidding us about everything and playing very intricate practical jokes.  Most of all, he always felt more like a loving parent or a brother.  Although it has been a long time, we have always missed him and will continue to so.

To Pat. Although we  have never met you, we know how great the years you had with him must have been and, from what we have been told, what an incredibly nice human being you are.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Barbara, Jay and Jennifer,   We were so very sorry to hear about your dad. He was a great guy.  When your parents  moved to Florida 20 years ago we were sorry to see our friends leave New Jersey.  Even though we lost touch these last years, we often talked  of them.  I am sure your Mom and Dad  are finally in heaven together.  Your father was a man with a huge heart.  When he  retired , Amoco lost a great friend and boss, which no one was ever  able  to fill his shoes.     May he rest in peace. My first thought when I saw Jerry for that first time was, "Oh....a stodgy retired banker type"...or something along those lines, but then, he opened his mouth and what came out was something totally off the wall, something goofy, simply outrageous which I can not remember word-for word.  But that changed my mind quickly.  He was a sharp tack with a wicked sence of humor and a zest for life that was just contagious!  

Thank you Jerry for making my cousin, Pat, the happiest she's been in her whole life.  She absolutely adored you and from all I saw, you felt the same about her.

I hope they have gift shops in heaven for you to browse.  I know you didn't let us pass any during the trip to Alaska.  We went to every single one and some, more than once just so you could find that something special for one family member, friend, or whoever.  I think your only regret about that honeymoon trip with Pat was that there was no gift shop on the glazier you had to drag Pat to see!

We love you Jerry.  You will be greatly missed, but will also always bring us smiles with the great memories you gave.
