Gloria (Glo) Lawson, 95, died 8/18/17 and went to meet her husband, “Hanky” , sister, mother and dear daddy in Heaven. Gloria was born in Hamilton, Ohio on 2/24/22. Gloria had a long, exciting life of travel and adventure and was well known for her quick wit. She served as a SPAR in the Coast Guard during the war and was stationed in West Palm Beach. This eventually lead to her arrival in California where her path crossed with a handsome young Navy sailor in San Diego. This would lead to a marriage just shy of 50 years, with much travel and many lifetime friends between the two. They would have two children, Tommy Lawson, Lauderhill, Fl, and Michele (Richard) Taylor, Coral Springs, Fl that would enjoy a wonderful childhood in Washington, California, N.J., N.Y., Texas, Pensacola, Fl, Jacksonville, Fl and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Even with all the moves, mom was always there to make the transition easy. Gloria moved back to Fleming Island and worked at the Clay Co. Health Dept. until she was 80! She loved getting up and out and being around her friends. Gloria and Dad were beside themselves when their grandsons, Erik and Mikey were born. This was a highlight of her life. You could always get a straight answer from her right up until the end.
She was classy woman who loved to be “put together” and her caregiver, Charm made sure of this for her over the past year. She was a very special mom who was loved a lot by many, and we will miss her so much. Love you Mom
Inunrment with her husband will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
