

Louis Bologno, 89, died of heart failure on November 26, 2023, just one week short of his 90th birthday. He is survived by his daughter Emilie and her husband Mitch, son Louis and his fiancé Sharon, grandchildren Michael, Andrew and his wife Chelsea, Matthew, Louis and great grandson Dominick. He is also survived by his loving girlfriend Maritza.
Louis was born on December 4, 1933 in Manhattan, New York to Emma and Aldo Bologno. He entered the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He graduated from Pace University with a degree in Finance. During his career, he worked for J.P. Stevens Textile Corporation where he met Josephine Fazio. Later he worked for James Talcott Factors.
In June 1957, he married Josephine and moved to Brooklyn, New York, where they had 2 children, Emilie and Louis. Lou loved to take all of the kids on the block ice skating at Prospect Park and to his office on Thanksgiving to watch the parade while looking down from the windowsill.
In 1970 the family moved to Howard Beach, Queens. He enjoyed big family dinners, gardening, trips to the museums, botanical gardens, and days at the beach.
Lou was a social man who loved life and being surrounded by people. He could laugh at anything.
He was affectionately called “Pop”, “Poppy Lou”, and “Poppa Lou” by all. He was passionate about fishing, swimming, tending to his orchids, watching sports and the stock market, and ice skating in his younger days. But most of all, his true passion was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandson.
He was a member of the Coral Springs Orchid Society and won many awards for his orchids.
Lou is going to be missed deeply by his family and friends.
The funeral is scheduled for Friday, December 1 at 11am at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale. All are welcome to attend.
A visitation for Louis will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071. A committal service will occur Friday, December 1, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1500 S. State Rd. 7, N. Lauderdale, FL 33068.
