Mary Louise (Mary Lou) La Macchia passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Savior on July 29, 2026, in Fox Point, Wisconsin.

Born to Dolores and William Murphy on December 17, 1952, in Newburyport, Massachusetts, Mary Lou's life was a beautiful reflection of her Irish family upbringing, steadfast Catholic faith, quiet grace, generous hospitality, and unconditional love.

Known for her gentle spirit and genuine kindness, Mary Lou possessed a rare gift for making others feel welcomed, valued, and at ease. Strangers quickly became friends as she extended a warm greeting accompanied by her winning smile, and a joyful gaze from her captivating blue eyes. Those lucky enough to be in her daily orbit could depend on countless expressions of authentic concern, support, and encouragement.

Blessed with a brilliant analytical mind and unwavering integrity, Mary Lou became a Certified Public Accountant?the only woman in her graduating class to earn that distinction. She went on to build an outstanding business career and, in 2002, co-founded La Macchia Group with her beloved husband, Ralph. Together, they helped grow the Milwaukee-based startup into one of the nation's leading design/build firms serving the financial services industry. Admired for her wisdom, compassion, and steady leadership, Mary Lou believed that successful businesses put people first. That conviction shaped La Macchia Group and touched countless lives along the way.

Having recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on June 23rd, Ralph and Mary Lou's marriage was rooted in faith, mutual respect, and unwavering devotion. Their love story began in 1995 at a board meeting, where Ralph first met the quiet, introverted woman who would become the love of his life. Steadfast in their commitment to each other, they fully embraced the blessings of their shared journey, while confronting any of life's adversities with an unwavering faith.

Mary Lou had an expansive definition of family. She and Ralph delighted in opening their home to others, especially during their annual Easter brunch that welcomed dozens of family members, friends, neighbors, and anyone who had nowhere else to celebrate. There was always room for one more at the table.

Mary Lou was a natural at turning life's moments into memories, whether walking the beach with family, globetrotting with Ralph, cheering on the sidelines of the racetrack, hosting company picnics, baking biscotti for Christmas, organizing celebratory dinners with family and friends, or sharing quiet conversations over pizza and wine. Mary Lou always found joy in being with those she loved, and the feeling was mutual.

All who knew her will remember her winsome smile, her infectious laugh, and the affectionate way she would respond to one of Ralph's humorous predicaments with a well-timed:

"Oh, Ralph?"

Her generous heart extended far beyond her own family through her support of Catholic Charities and organizations serving adaptive athletes, reflecting her belief that every person deserved dignity, compassion, and opportunity.

As her battle with Lewy Body Dementia progressed, Mary Lou bravely faced its devastating impact on her life, though it could never diminish the extraordinary woman she had always been. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the company she helped build, the faith she lived, and the countless lives she touched.

Mary Lou is survived by her devoted husband, Ralph La Macchia, her beloved children, Daughter Colleen Casey Throndson (Dave) and Stepson Ben La Macchia (Tayla); her treasured grandchildren, Ronan, Shari, and Autumn "Auti" Throndson, and Raphael and Lucio La Macchia. She is lovingly remembered by her cherished siblings, Michael S. Murphy (Pamela), Sharon E. Miller (Bruce), Lawrence C. Murphy (Dana), and Patrick J. Murphy (Whitney), along with many dearly loved nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing her.

A special thank you to Rashada Ford, family friend and caregiver, for her compassionate care and companionship throughout Mary Lou's illness, and to the most loving staff at Azura Memory Care in Fox Point.

As we celebrate Mary Lou's remarkable life, we give thanks for a woman who loved deeply, led humbly, welcomed generously, and trusted faithfully in God's plan. Those who knew Mary Lou find comfort in knowing that the faith she lived so completely has now become the joy she experiences forever in the presence of the Lord she served so faithfully.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, 10am, at The Basilica of St. Josaphat, 2333 S. 6th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
