Marylin Theresa Deeken

October 21, 1939April 24, 2021

Marylin Theresa Deeken (née Friscia) died peacefully on April 24, 2021 in Coconut Creek, Florida at the age of 81. Marylin was born on October 21, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York to Joseph Friscia and Teresa Cermenello. She graduated from Levittown Memorial High School in 1957. Following graduation, she began working in Manhattan as a secretary. She loved Elvis Presley and attended many concerts even almost meeting him at one! Marylin and Raymond Peter Deeken welcomed four children into the world and raised them lovingly. Her children will remember her as a kind mother who was always there for them. Marylin was accomplished at baking and often baked many goodies for her children and grandchildren. Some of which most cherished are her New York cheesecake, peanut butter pie, and chocolate layer cake. She had a sweet tooth and always had a butterscotch sucker in her purse. She loved celebrating Thanksgiving with her family and passing down her prized stuffing recipe (don’t forget the THYME!) to the next generation. She loved to read and shared that love of reading with her grandchildren by encouraging them to accompany her to the library. She never left the house without her coupons! She deeply loved her grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow. Marylin is survived by her children, Desiree (Frank) Guiliano, Raymond Deeken, Deneen (Paul) Colletti, and Douglas (Kristin) Deeken; grandchildren, Frankie (Paige) Guiliano, Billy Guiliano, Jessica (Daniel) McTeigue, Theresa (Tyler) Kins, Nicole Colletti, Skyler Deeken, Nicholas Deeken, Hailee MacKenzie and Quinn Reed; great-grandchild, Parker Guiliano; sister, Annette (Frank) Sequino of New York; and brother, Joseph (Karen) Friscia of Pennsylvania, along with several loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Friscia and mother, Teresa Cermenello, of New York.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 11:00AM Wednesday, April 28th, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Father Kelly will officiate the mass. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The American Brain Foundation at or Prader-Willi Florida Association. 7760 Granville Drive Tamarac, FL 33321.

The family would like to thank all her caregivers at Havencrest Assisted Living Facility Coconut Creek for their dedication.

When I was 19 years old I was planning a surprise Birthday Party for my brother Raymond who happened to be dating Marilyn. I asked Marilyn to help me set up for the party. That's when I found she had the same birthday as my brother. Surprise was on me. We had a great time at the party and she eventually became my sister-in-law. Love my nieces and nephews/

I so enjoyed sitting with Aunt Marilyn at Frankie and Paige’s rehearsal dinner. We talked a lot that night and had so much fun catching up. Rest In Peace Aunt Marilyn.
