Michael John Switzer

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael John Switzer of Coral Springs on Sunday, January 10, 2016. Born in Frankfort, Indiana on March 19, 1949 he was the son of John A. and Jane Anne Switzer who preceded him in death. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Indiana and attended Purdue University. After marrying his wife of 46 years, Margaret (Margie) Switzer in Lafayette, Indiana they eventually settled in Coral Springs, Florida where they’ve lived the past 31 years. He was a faithful member of Church by the Glades, Coral Springs, FL. Michael was an exceptional man who maintained a humble, quiet spirit despite his many remarkable achievements. He began his career with training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota before being hired by Coulter Electronics where he was employed for 25 years. He loved finding the elusive solution to complex technical problems and excelled in doing so. He was currently employed by Diatron Group located in Budapest, Hungary in the position of Vice President Quality Systems. Mike enjoyed spending his free time with close family always eager to attend auto racing events, go fishing, or participate in any activities that included his sons and grandsons. He leaves behind his loving wife, Margie; two sons, Kristopher Michael Switzer and his wife, Jody Helen Switzer of Davie, Florida and Brandon Jacob Switzer and his wife, Melissa Marie Switzer of Denver, North Carolina; grandsons, Justin James Switzer, Brayden Michael Switzer, and Cole Jacob Switzer; brothers, Jerry Dale Switzer and his wife, Debbie Switzer of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Patrick Lynn Switzer of Colorado Springs, Colorado; niece, Jessica (Tim) Halliday; nephew, Nicholas (Rachel) Switzer. Mike was never one to pass up a good joke or prank, always ready to entertain with his slapstick sense of humor. His kind heart and selfless nature were the hallmarks of his personality. He was a dedicated, loyal and trustworthy man. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 11:00 am at Church by the Glades, 400 Lakeview Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071. Family invites all guests to join them after the service for refreshments.
