

Born to James and Rose (Brown) Coakley in 1942, Pat grew up on the Lower East Side and in Ridgewood, NYC before graduating from Notre Dame College of Staten Island and Fordham University. It was at a Fordham mixer that she met Peter Martin, her beloved husband of 53 years. She and Pete worked in education for many years, before retiring to Coconut Creek, Florida. They loved travel, theater, Fawlty Towers, visiting friends and family, admiring their grandchildren and being Irish. Pat also loved Mahjong and cruises.
Pat is survived by her beloved children Kimberly and Peter and daughter-in-law Susan, treasured grandchildren Brendan and Paige Martin and Claire Zywicki, and sisters- and brothers-in-law Camille Coakley, Alice Martin, Carol and Charles Trepcos and Mary Ellen and Tim Cleary, many nieces and nephews and good friends in New York and Florida from all phases of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, brother John Coakley and brothers-in-law Dennis, Eugene and Vincent Martin and sisters-in-law Christine and Cynthia Martin.
Pat’s family extends heartfelt appreciation to the medical staff who cared for her and supported her peaceful transition.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at St. Barnabas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Bellmore, New York.
