

JOSEPH AUGUSTE PIERRE DENIZE, born in and a long time citizen of Haiti and more recently a resident of Miami and Tamarac, died peacefully at Florida Medical Center on Sunday October 1, 2017, surrounded by family and close friends. He was 66 years old. During his life, he blazed many trails, defied many limitations, in order to make significant contributions to his family, community and country. He is known for being the founder of APAAC, the first ever organization in Haiti dedicated to recovery from alcoholism and other chemical dependency. And for his tenure as Chief of Police of Haiti from 1996 to 2001, under the first presidency of Rene Preval.
He felt to us as if he lived larger than life. He is survived by a large loving family who cannot quite believe that he is gone.
Funeral Services will be held at KRAEER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs Florida, Saturday October 7, 2017, friends may gather from 5:30 with a service at 6:30 pm.
