

Richard K. Roskowe was born January 20, 1949. He is survived by and was the beloved husband of 55 years to his wife Janet Roskowe, father to Jacquelynn Keough, grandfather to Caitlin Christman (husband, Dylan) and Meghan Keough and great grandfather to Eric and Ethan Christman. Also survived by cousins Lawrence Melody and David de Chant.
Richard was born in Montclaire, New Jersey, and was the loving son of Chester and Gertrude Roskowe. He attended St. Cecelia school in NJ. He and his family moved to Hollywood in 1959. He attended St. Stephen’s Elementary, Miramar, FL prior to attending and graduating Chaminade College Preparatory in 1967. He was presented with an award as “Outstanding Graduate” from Chaminade/Madonna High School for his achievements over the years. Richard earned an Associate of Arts degree from Broward College. Grand Old Guard Society Florida Gator, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism in 1971. At University of Florida, Richard was the Gainesville State News Correspondent for the St. Petersburg Times (now Tampa Bay Times) and worked on the Gator newspaper. He was elected President of the 150 member UF Chapter Society of Professional Journalists (Signa Delta Chi). After graduating from UF, he was a news reporter for the Fort Lauderdale News (today’s Sun Sentinel), Richard’s reporting is archived. He was particularly proud of his article on the KKK. Richard later served as Editor in Office of “The Western News” and “The Coral Springs Courier” serving Western Broward County. In a new phase, Richard’s insurance career serviced countless Broward County clients and spanned 40 years receiving numerous industry and corporate certifications and accolades.
He was commissioned by the Archdiocese of Miami as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (2017-2020) while serving at All Saints Catholic Church in Sunrise, Florida.
Sir Knight, Richard Roskowe's most proud accomplishment was being a Knights of Columbus Chancellor in the Council and Admiral in the Fourth Degree and a member of the Color Corp. He especially enjoyed his community service charity work with them such as Special Olympics, Toys for Tots, St. Vincent de Paul and other charity work contributions.
Richard was an avid golfer playing several times a week with a group of his very close friends; Gary, Mark, Lou, and Jay. It was very important to him to continue to keep in touch with previous classmates and coworkers over the years. He read the newspaper every day and loved all kinds of music but especially rock and roll and recently country. He enjoyed doing yard work and going to the beach. Richard's most enjoyable and favorite thing to do was spend time with his family celebrating special occasions. He was very recently proud to become great-grandfather to twin boys, Eric and Ethan.
As a final remembrance, Richard was an inspiration to all of us showing love, compassion, loyalty, trust, respect, kindness, laughter, sacrifice and generosity. He was a devoted Roman Catholic and leaned heavily on his faith, continuing to be hopeful and fighting to stay with his family and friends as long as he could.
We will miss seeing his smiling face and enjoying his company.
