Can’t say it gets easier - you just keep going forward - your heart always breaks - Iiving on memories helps - sending heartfelt prayers as you go on without her - know she would want you too.  As I’ve been in your shoes losing Maria - I’m sending you prayers, love and a big hug.

My Dear and Loving beautiful Bertie:

For 65 years of our loving and beautiful marriage, we have also become best friends. We have managed to survive the good and tough times. With our incredible family who have been with us during these past difficult and trying months. Their love for you and me was our greatest support and kept our spirits up.
I have looked back over the years, over the history of our relationship and our great travels. The fun we had traveling around the world, to so many places. Me taking thousands of pictures and you collecting all your trinkets. During all that time you always managed to smile to make those trips fun and always goofing off. And even during your terrible sickness, you provided me and everyone with your infectious smile and candid jokes. I am the luckiest husband to have you by my side all these beautiful years. The hugs, kisses, laughter, which I will miss so very much, the difficult and happy times bonded our relationship. We worked together to pass it on to our family, that bond and relationship. They have made us into an incredibly happy family. and happy husband, 
I miss you so very much, more every day. I want to thank you for being an incredible loving wife to me and tolerant of my stupid actions. Needless to say, and a fantastic mother to all, with your great insight into family issues and great advice to those who asked, kind to everyone, generous and giving. 
As I sit in my rocking chair, I picture you waking me up as usual. I will never be alone because you are always in my heart and mind. One day we will be together again, me holding your hand.

A Journey Remembered

As some people journey through life, they leave footprints
wherever they go,
footprints of kindness and love,
courage and compassion,
humor and inspiration.
joy and faith.
Even when they are gone,
we can still look back and clearly
 see the trail they left behind.
A trail bright with hope
that invites us to follow.

Greif In Love

A hole ripped through the very
fabric of your being.
The hole eventually heals along the
jagged edges that remain.
It may even shrink in size.
But that hole will always be there.
A piece of you always missing.
For where there is deep grief,
there was great love.
Don’t be ashamed of your grief.
Don’t judge it.
Don’t suppress it.
Don’t rush it.
Rather, acknowledge it.
Lean into it.
Listen to it.
Sit with it.
Sit with the pain.
And remember the love.
This is where the healing will begin.

So sad to hear this news about magnificent Bertie. She was beloved in the English department at Broward College. Bertie, a professor of English, taught and inspired countless students over her long career. She gave extraordinary care to each of her students and ignited a love of literature in so many. We will miss her dearly.

We were a trio, Veronica, Bert and Marge. We harmonized, and took voice lessons at Notre Dame. After awhile we got serious, and developed a set of songs, made our matching outfits, and went on the service club circuit in Miami. Our friendship continued as we all started our adult lives. The last time I saw Bert was when she arranged our NDA class reunion in Ft. Lauderdale. Here's to you Bert, I'm singing our favorite song, "Side by Side"

About 14 years ago I joined the Coral Springs Woman's Club and met Bert.  She was such an inspiration to me in what matters in life.  We became friends and I especially enjoyed playing Words With Friends.  We played every day for the last 3 years unless one of us was on vacation.  I loved her competitive spirit!  She left a fond memory of 14 unplayed games.  I knew when she missed playing on Monday that she had taken a bad turn.  She went into the arms of God on Thursday.  I certainly will miss her.  Rest in peace my friend.

Bert always had a vibrant, warm, infectious smile that made everyone she talked to feel special.  She was always full of energy .  I admired her leadership in Coral Springs Woman's Club where I met her many years ago.   She was a born leader and a very accomplished woman.  Her family was her greatest joy and I send my love and support to all of you at this difficult time.

No words for such a great loss - she always made me feel like family.  Her smile and goodness shined - God bless you and yours.  Much love, Cookie

There are hardly any words to describe the loss of a great friend.  I met Bert when I joined the Coral Springs Womans' Club.  She helped me become the member I am today of this wonderful organization.  She always pushed me past my comfort level regarding this organization and also with GFWC Florida.  We had such great times attending conventions in Orlando.  

 She and Pat hosted many parties at her home for the Club and what wonderful hosts they were over these many years. 

I will always remember what you have done for me.
I will always miss you.

 courage, laughter and love for family. I will miss you forever  Patty.

What an outstanding life this beautiful friend had! In the 50 plus years that I have known her, I can not even remember all the fun times we shared together. GFWC Florida brought us together as juniors and as the years passed by, you could always count on Bert to be at your side. Bert has left this world by making such an impact on so many people and her memory is forever in so many hearts.  
   My heart is broken and I send my deepest condolences to Pat, Michael, Cristine, Stephen and all of the family. Bert will be missed dearly by so many people as that smile, that effervescent personality, that generous loving heart will never be forgotten. 
   Rest in peace Bertie, and give all of our federation sisters and my John big hugs and kisses!
