

Roger was born on October 12, 1963, in Kingston, Jamaica, to Ronald and Barbara Newman. He received his early education at DeCarteret College in Mandeville, followed by Champion College and Priory School, both in Kingston. After graduating from Priory School, Roger pursued further studies at The Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester, England, before returning to Jamaica.
Roger married Maxine Mogilevsky in Trelawny, Jamaica, where they began a life together built on love, and shared values.
Roger dedicated over 20 years of his professional life as a Farm Manager at Good Hope Estate, where his expertise and passion for agriculture flourished. Even after stepping away from the agricultural industry— he continued to cultivate a vibrant and flavourful crop of Scotch Bonnet peppers at home.
A kind, loving, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Roger found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a deep passion for breeding and training racehorses, attending horse races, and watching cricket. Above all, he cherished spending quality time with his beloved family and close friends.
Roger’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
Roger is preceded in death by Maxine Newman, Ronald Newman and Barbara Newman.
Roger is survived by his children, Ryan Newman (Cynthia), Michelle Stripling (Bryant), Melissa Tavares (Steven); brother, Scott Newman (Angela); grandchildren, Arya and Remington Newman, Sawyer Stripling, Mason and Paisley Wilson; two nephews, Jonathan and Jordan Newman, as well as extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 21st, 2025 at Kraeer Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
