With sadness, the family announces the passing of Jon Peter Kelly on November 17, 2025, at the age of 79. Jon will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humour, boisterous personality, sarcasm, strong opinions, and above all his care for those close to him.
Treks into the remote wilderness with buddies, long fishing trips, time on his boat, and weekends spent at the cottage with family were among the things that filled his life. His sometimes gruff exterior was paired with fierce support for his family and friends.
Jon is survived by his wife, Irene Kelly (née Kasperski), and his son, Bryan Kelly (Daniel Shumski). He will also be remembered by his sister, Judith Westgate, as well as by many nieces and nephews.
Jon was predeceased by his parents, Eva (née Williams) and James Kelly, and by his siblings Fred Pluthero (late Margaret) and Rita Hines (late Harold).
In keeping with Jon’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lahaie & Sullivan East Branch (613-933-2841). Because cancer touched people in Jon’s life, the family suggests donations in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society. (https://cancer.ca/en/ways-to-give/personal-donation)
