Angelo Michael Matero, Sr., of White Plains formerly of Croton-on Hudson, NY passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the age of 88. Angelo was born to Angelo and Antoinette (Camarra) Matero on January 1, 1931 in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Angelo was married to his best friend and love, Frances Brooks Matero in 1968. He was a US Army Veteran, serving honorably during the Korean War from 1950 - 1953. Angelo worked as a crane operator and retired from the Local Operating Engineers 137. In retirement, Angelo spent 25 years working at Pelham Bay & Split Rock Golf Course.

Angelo is survived by his wife of 50 years Frances Matero, and by his son Angelo Michael Matero, Jr., daughter Catherine Ann Matero (Stephen Smith), and step-son Mark Greenfield (Gloria Montoya- Greenfield). He is also survived by his grandchildren Anthony Michael Matero, Brian Daniel Matero, Michael Lee Hayes, Nicholas Patrick Smith, Marissa Magner, and Sarah Greenfield; by his sister Betty Matero also known as Sister Angelene, and his brother James Ronald Matero (Margaret) and also by many loving nieces and nephews. Angelo was predeceased by daughters Ann Greenfield-Ferri and Susan Greenfield, and by his brothers Samuel Salvatore Matero and Francis Anthony Matero.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 6-8PM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Holy Name of Mary Church, Croton-on-Hudson. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery also in Croton.

It was a pleasure to have known you at Sarah Neuman at dinner time. Fran, you and Angelo were such a loving couple. We so enjoyed seeing you together at dinner. Angelo was always such a gentleman who all could see adored you. We’re so sorry for your loss. May God comfort and strengthen you during this difficult time. We will miss both of you.
