Born on August 28, 1932, in New York City to the late John and Frances (Ryan) Krug, Florence was a trailblazer in her time. She spent many dedicated years working with NY Telephone, NYNEX, and Verizon, becoming one of the first women to work in switching for the phone companies — a testament to her quiet strength and pioneering spirit. She was also a member of NYNEX’s Pioneers Club.
Florence was known for her love of reading and word puzzles, and for her calm demeanor — that is, until five o’clock, when it was time for appetizers and cocktails. She found joy in the little rituals of life, and even more in the company of those she loved.
Above all, Florence cherished her family. Her happiest moments were spent vacationing with them in Cape Cod, where laughter and love were always in abundance.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Lorraine Childs and Diane DiLeone; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Childs, and Michael and Thomas Jackovitz; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews, and a host of dear friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly.
Florence was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Anthony DiLeone, her parents, and her brothers, Gerald and John Krug.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 19th, from 9:15 – 9:45 AM, at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home in Croton on Hudson, followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Name of Mary, on Saturday, July 19th, at 10 AM. Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne will follow.
