Gerald Paul Quinn

Mr. Quinn was born on August 26, 1937 in Tarrytown, NY to Arthur and Rita (Rigney) Quinn. He was the second youngest of 9 children and lived his early years in Ossining, NY where he went on to graduate from Ossining High School. He Married Barbara Lilly on May 6, 1967 in Ossining, NY. They lived in Croton-on-Hudson until 1993. Afterword living in Fork Union, VA, Ft. Myers Beach, FL, returning to Croton on Hudson, NY and finally in Hopewell Junction. Gerald is predeceased by his parents, wife Barbara and siblings Joan LaLuna, Michael Quinn and Arthur Quinn. He is survived by his sisters Patricia Vasta, Sylvia Olivo, Catherine Cornu, Mary Campbell, and Rita DeMaria. His children and their partners, Jerry Riccio, Tara Colavecchio(Peter), Shannon Quinn(John), Darrin Quinn(Shelley) and Erin Quinn(Matt). Gerald was the Proud Grandfather of Melissa, Dylan, Ryan, Lucas, Savannah, Alex, Aydan, Patrick, Lilly, Ruby and Great Grandfather of Alice. As well as a multitude of cherished nieces and nephews.

As a young man Gerald was employed as a Union Steamfitter, proudly working on projects like the 1964 World’s Fair. Being a strong willed and hardworking man, he started his own business, Jerry Quinn (& Son) Painting Contractor in 1966. His son Darrin currently owns and operates the business but Jerry was still “cutting in a cat’s eyeball” until 2019.

Gerald was Former Captain and Lifetime Member of The Croton Volunteer Fire Department Hook and Ladder Company and Past President of the Painting & Decorating Contractors of America. As an avid boater, he enjoyed navigating the open waters on his beloved boat(s) “Irish Mist”.

Gerald will be remembered for his unrelenting strength, big appetite and as a friend to all. He was always there with a helping hand for his family and friends. He lived an extraordinary life and will be greatly missed and loved forever and always.

Memorial Mass March 5, 2020. 10am at Holy Name of Mary Church, 110 Grand St. Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520. A procession will immediately follow to St. Augustine Cemetery, Hawkes Ave. Ossining, NY 10562 for Burial of Ashes.
