I knew Rich  too briefly through our get togethers with the Hills, yet I feel a very personal loss. Rich was one of a kind and always fun to be with especially around a fire with a scotch or such in hand and a cigar.

We shared so many good times with Rich and family - scouting adventures, summer BBQs that lasted way into the night, bowling nights, and countless moments filled with laughter, fun, and real friendship. 

And then there was all the help that Rich gave us when Mark was sick. He was there for us during good times and bad. 

We will never forget the mischievous twinkle in Rich’s eye that he had just before some new adventure was about to begin. He loved life and he sharing his joy of living with those around him.

To Sue, Hunter, and your family: please know how deeply you are loved. We will always be here for you — in whatever way you need, whenever you need it. Rich’s faith, generosity of spirit, and easy warmth touched everyone who knew him.

My first professional role after college was working with Rich, and it was an experience that shaped my career in meaningful ways. He possessed exceptional technical expertise, yet he shared his knowledge with patience, humility, and genuine enthusiasm. I learned a great deal from him, and he made the process enjoyable every step of the way. I valued his mentorship so much that I followed him to the next company he joined.

So sorry to hear. I have many great memories of working with Rich while we were both at Dimension Data. So much laughter as we worked on various challenges - Rich was an expert who helped everyone on the team succeed. Sincere condolences.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Richard’s passing. I had the privilege of being a teammate and working closely with him, and I will always remember the way he stepped up to take on the most challenging, complex, and critical customers and projects — the ones that truly mattered.

I knew Rich as SkiRich. He was one of the founders of a group of gamers who played Star Citizen and many other games together. SkiRich was always there to help—whether it was a problem within the group, something going on in our personal lives, or a computer issue that needed fixing.
I never met him in person, but I will always remember him. He had a way of speaking that exuded a calm confidence, grounded in wisdom, that naturally made him a leader and mentor in any group he was part of. He had a gift for calming situations and bringing people together when things became difficult.
I was a Boy Scout as a boy and hearing him speak about scouting and the passion he had for it reminded me of the amazing times I had as a Boy Scout—and that my boys should be part of it as well. SkiRich will truly be missed.

I worked with Richard for several years and after learning of his passing was deeply saddened. I sent a note to my team here at work, to let them know the sad news and will share some of that note here: 

"At a time like this it's difficult to imagine anything positive, but one of the things that I will remain focused on is Richard's legacy of kindness to the people he worked with. If you didn't have the privilege to know him, I'll share that he had a gentle soul and a calming effect on those around him, even when things were difficult. He will be missed."
