Virginia Ellen Zimmerman

Virginia was born on November 11, 1916 to the late Harvey and Virginia (Williams) Walker in Kearney, NB. She spent her early years in Walworth, NY and Dover Plains, NY before attending New Paltz State Teachers College. Virginia taught elementary school in South Huntington, NY until her retirement in 1964. Between 1964 and 1979, Virginia and her husband, George, spent many years teaching at the International School of Belgrade in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. While there, they traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Virginia spent her retirement in Ft. Myers, FL where she enjoyed golf, bridge, swimming, shuffleboard, sewing and crocheting. She also loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Sally Jekabsons and her husband Jake; adoring grandchildren, Heather Nolan and Kimberly Dolan; loving great grandsons, Tommy and Andrew Dolan. She is also survived by her niece and nephew, Helen Herman and David Walker. Virginia was predeceased by her beloved husband George Zimmerman in 1997 and loving daughter Sandra Zimmerman in 1974.

Funeral Services will be held at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 11:30AM. There will be a gathering of family and friends prior to the service at 10:30AM.
