Annette was born in Alabama on December 28, 1951, but her life truly began after meeting and marrying Glen in 1968. They lived a very full life together for 54 years. They loved to dance, bowl, and golf together. Their favorite thing to do was spend time with family and friends. She really enjoyed gardening and would spend countless hours tending to her yard. Annette was the most giving and loving person; she would open her arms to just about anyone. Annette had many names she loved being called, but if you knew her... you’d know her favorite was Mawmaw. She enjoyed having her morning coffee with her son, Brent. Annette’s last few years were spent with her granddaughters, Taylor and Tori, and her great-grandchildren. They took trips, spent hours swimming under the sun, and made memories they can hold onto forever.
Annette is survived by her son, Brent Mathews; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, including the light of her life, great-grandson Jayce Alec Mathews. She is also survived by her brother, Johnny Smith; and her aunt, Judy Strom.
Annette was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glen Mathews; her sons, Curt and Steven Mathews; her siblings, Doug, Jimmy, Linda, and Becky; and her parents, Thomas and Roberta Smith.
A short service will be held for family and friends on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN, 46307.
