

Anthony was born November 1, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Anthony Sr. and Isabel (Alvarado) Maravilla. Also preceding him in death is his sister Theresa Osborne.
Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Patricia (Andrews) Maravilla, children, Melissa Graham, Anthony Maravilla and Elizabeth Maravilla, grandchildren, Rocko (Crystal) Graham, Erica Graham, Allie Kontor and Justin Graham, 3 great grandchildren, Gavin, Kennedy, and Reagan Graham, 3 brothers, Robert (Marie) Maravilla, David (Catherine) Maravilla, Louis (Edilma) Maravilla and brother-in-law and sister-in-law James and Shirley Mallaney.
Mr. Maravilla was a graduate of Bowen High School where he was later a devoted teacher for over 33 years. Awarded Teacher of the Year by the Mexican Community Committee. He served in the United States Army for six years and received his Masters Degree in Education from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After retirement he continued his devotion to education by serving as principal at an alternative high school in Chicago, as well as Executive Director of South Chicago Consortium After School Program, which helped provide safe activity for over 750 students. Anthony was an avid White Sox fan, who was overjoyed when they brought home the 2005 World Series Title.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 16, 2015, 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church (213 W. Joliet St. Crown Point, Indiana 46307) with Fr. Patrick Gaza officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 2-8 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave. Schererville, IN 46375) Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
