Beverly was born on May 3, 1944, in East Chicago, IN, to the late Lloyd Edward Anderson and Dorothy Faye Anderson. She was a lifelong learner and educator, dedicating the majority of her career to teaching mathematics at the college level, most notably at Missouri State University.
In addition to her professional life, Beverly was an avid reader, passionate bridge player, and a masterful quilter. Her hands were never idle, and her mind was always seeking. She created warmth—both literally in her quilts and figuratively in every room she entered.
Beverly is survived by her son, John Lloyd Weatherwax (Christine); and her grandchildren, Sophia and Alexa Weatherwax; her daughter, Susan Elizabeth Henrikson (Jeff); and her grandchildren, Ryan, Kaitlyn, and Julia Henrikson; her son, Doug Weatherwax (Shalini); and grandchildren, Lucas and Emma Weatherwax. She is also survived by her younger brother, Kenneth Lloyd Anderson; and her dear quilting, teaching, and bridge friends in Springfield, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Dorothy Faye Anderson.
Beverly Faye Weatherwax was indefatigable in her positive outlook and love for the world. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the joy of knowing her.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Teresa Williams, whose care and companionship made Beverly’s final years memorable and independent, and to the compassionate staff at Tuscany Villa in Katy, TX, who supported her with grace and dignity as her memory and health declined.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Beverly’s memory to either the Humane World for Animals or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society—two causes close to her heart.
A visitation for Beverly will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 10:00 am until the start of the funeral service at 12:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.”
