He was born on May 2, 1951 in Hammond, IN to his loving parents Kenneth W. and Florence (Compher) Shoemaker.
Bill was always a busy body which made truck driving the perfect career for him. Throughout his life he spent many years taking trips on his motorcycle. He was an avid gun collector and became a NRA Certified Instructor. His family knew him as a true Marksman who enjoyed any time spent at the shooting range. Boy Scout troops benefited from his expertise at this outdoor event and he was always willing to give the time to help support them. Reading the newspaper, books, or any material he could get his hands on is how he liked to spend down time. Crossword puzzles were a part of his conversations with family and friends and he laughed at the comics each Sunday. Telling jokes is how he will be remembered and anytime you come across something that really makes you laugh, think of Bill fondly. His good character and charm will truly be missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
He is survived by his devoted children, Therese (Kevin) Shoemaker, Andria (Andy) Shoemaker, William (Michelle) Shoemaker; four grandchildren, Baden, Rowin, Elias, Annie; siblings, Barbara (John) Cooper, Rob (Galia) Shoemaker, Tom (Nancy) Shoemaker, Judy DeVries, Mary Shoemaker, Donnie (Michelle) Shoemaker; and dear friend, Dennis (Cindy) Schulte; many nieces and nephews; along with Andria Holsclaw the mother of his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Kenneth Shoemaker and Florence Hofrichter; sister, Carol Shoemaker; nephew, Mike Shoemaker; and dear friend, Ralph Fleming.
