OBITUARY
Carmen Lydia Gomez
April 21, 1934 – November 24, 2018
Carmen Lydia Gomez, 84, returned to her heavenly home on November 24, 2018. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her last days and ultimately gave her peace. Carmen was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend Jose Jesus Gomez, in Puerto Rico. Carmen raised her five children with patience, discipline and humility. She loved to cook and share her food. Everyone always loved her rice and beans. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the gospels. Carmen was a homemaker at heart. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always loved to cook and give from her heart, She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator. Carmen is survived by her sons Jesus (Mary) Gomez, David (Jeanie) Gomez, daughters Lydia (Mike) Bouvat, Lisa (Robbie) Ackerman; her grandchildren Evie (Brian) Kevish, Erica (Clay) Maxwell, Mike (Megan) Bouvat, Joshua (April) Gomez, Joseph Gomez, Jeremy Gomez, Adriana Simpkins, Mitchell Ackerman and Griffin Gomez. She is preceded in death by her husband Jose Jesus, son Saul and Grandson Roberto (Jason). Carmen will have a Celebration of Life Service at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Reverend James Williams will officiate the service. The family gratefully accepts flowers and donations, but prayers, condolences and memories are gladly accepted as well.

We were sad to hear of your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you. The memories of our families riding the bus to First Baptist Church in Hammond so long ago flowed through our minds as we remembered your family. They were fond memories. We just wanted to take this time to extend our condolences.
Sincerely,
The Espinoza Family

Sis. Gomez was a wonderful Christian lady who was so devoted to her family and friends. I so enjoyed the times we spent with her and bro. Gomez, especially in their homes. And I will always remember those plates of “rice and beans”. What a meal! Thank you for all you did for so many.
