Catherine Agnes Augustyn

February 1, 1931August 11, 2010

Catherine A. "Katie" Augustyn, age 79, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010 surrounded by her family, ending the battle with pancreatic cancer. Catherine was married for 52 years to Raymond "Augie" Augustyn, who preceded her in death on December 25, 2001. Catherine was blessed by her nine children. She is survived by children: Marty (Jerry) Peyton, Theresa (Alfred Jr.) Hansen, Sandra (Ron) Roedel, Tina (Vail) Sytsma, Steven (Mary) Augustyn, Mary (Steve) Estes, Catherine (Rodger) Dillon, and Hope Ann (Joseph) Dyer; daughter-in-law, Suzanne (late Raymond) Augustyn; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters: Mickalina (John) Feeney and Mary (Mike) Starr; and a brother, William (Evelyn) Hero. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Hero. Catherine "Katie" will always be remembered for being a great caring mother, grandmother, friend, care giver, listener, for giving great holidays, pierogies and crullers. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Schererville, IN. Father Theodore Mens will be officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the memorial service on Wednesday. Catherine's family requests that memorials be given in her memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Research.
