

Char was the loving wife for 26 years to Ronald Schroers; beloved mother to Steven (Donna) Cheek, Laurie (Mike) Blue, Sandy (Randall) Smith, Steven Schroers and Daniel (Alyssa) Schroers; cherished grandmother to Emily Alexander, Michael (Miranda) Blue, McKenna Blue, Shelbi Smith, Sydney Smith, Kayla Schroers, Owen Schroers, Ty Schroers and Tiffany Krill; great-grandmother to Jaiden, Lucas, Lincoln, Charlie, Olivia, Ethan, Jackson and Carson; cherished sister to Diane (Dennis) Dahlin; former spouse and lifelong friend to Glenn Cheek; aunt to many.
Char was a director of the senior citizen programs at the Salvation Army. She also worked as a customer service supervisor at LTE in Merrillville. Later, she was a hostess at the Applebees in Portage and served as an ambassador at County Line Orchard. Char was an active member at the Salvation Army, serving as soldier, Sunday School Teacher, musician and Youth Leader at the Salvation Army Camp. She enjoyed swimming, was an avid reader, and enjoyed crafting, especially with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a gentle, kind and thoughtful Christian that put everyone else first.
Visitation will be Friday, March 22, 2024 from 2:00 PM until the time of her Celebration of Life at 6:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307.
