Charles W. Black, age 93, of Chesterton, IN, formerly of Crown Point, IN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Charles is the loving husband of 68 years to Doris Black; proud father to Lisa (Kevin) McClurg and the late Chuck Black; cherished brother to Euline Roberts, Byron Black, the late Wilbert Black, the late Dora McCormick, the late Gladys Henley, the late Elvin Black, the late Margaret Hensley, and the late Mildred Camburn; fond uncle to many. Charles honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired after 40 years of faithful service at Inland Steel. He and his wife, Doris, raised their family in Hessville, where they belonged and attended Hessville Baptist Church for 48 years. After moving to Crown Point, he and Doris were members of Lake Hills Baptist Church. Being a electrician at Inland Steel allowed his knowledge and his talents to be of service for whoever was in need at their homes and with any other repairs. He especially loved doing these acts of kindness with his brother, Elvin. His favorite time spent was with his loving family and he will be greatly missed.
